This is a very special year for the sport of Mounted Games. At the moment the sport is little known except to members of the equestrian community. However in 2010 this will change. In a few weeks it will be announced that Mounted Games is to be included in the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky USA. This will be the first time that the sport has achieved World recognition so will receive considerable publicity.

You may not even know about the sport yourself . It is made up of high speed relay races involving agility, athleticism, coordination and, above all, excellent team work between pony and rider and team members. The way in which riders leap on and off galloping ponies has to be seen to be believed and it is not for nothing that the sport is often described as competitive stunt riding.

The other reason for celebration is that Wales will be hosting the 2010 European Mounted Games Championships. These will take place at David Broome Event Centre on 1st  to 4th  July. As you can imagine many people will want to watch the world’s best and fastest riders and ponies competing at a new "World Equestrian Games" sport.

Riders will be coming from all over Europe and there will be fourteen  national teams attending competing in both teams and individual competition.
As you can imagine, organising these European  Championships and ensuring that as many people as possible get a chance to appreciate the skill of world-class riders is a major undertaking. We are relying on the generosity of many local companies and individuals to help defray the financial cost involved. At present we need to find about £60,000 to fully fund the whole event, feed ponies and riders and allow riders who have travelled so far to see something of the beauty of Wales. Would you be willing to help – any donation, whether monetary or in kind would be very gratefully received.

Of course we would acknowledge every donation in the programmes and on the website dedicated to the championships. Those making a significant donation would be thanked over during the event commentary and could also present prizes if they so wished
